KEDIRI, East Java – The Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Wates District, Kediri Regency, has launched the Marriage Guidance Program, widely known as BINWIN, on May 26, 2025. The program was initiated in response to the sharp increase in marriage registrations scheduled for June, with 200 couples already listed to tie the knot — the highest record in recent months.

Led by KUA Wates Head, Rizal Zakaria, S.Hi., M.H., the BINWIN program is an initiative of Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs aimed at equipping prospective brides and grooms with essential knowledge and emotional readiness before entering married life.

“BINWIN is not just about formal procedures; it’s a preventive measure to reduce divorce rates by fostering better understanding and communication between future spouses,” Rizal stated during the opening session.

The first batch of the BINWIN program includes 20 couples and will run for 10 days. Each session lasts approximately two hours, focusing on critical topics such as marital responsibilities, financial planning, conflict resolution, and emotional management within the household.

One of the participating couples expressed appreciation for the program, saying it offered valuable insights. “This program is truly eye-opening. It teaches us what to expect in marriage — both the joy and the challenges — and how to build a harmonious and loving family,” said a participant.

In addition to fostering stronger family foundations, the BINWIN initiative is also seen as a way to discourage rushed marriages due to unplanned pregnancies. By providing early education, the KUA hopes to encourage responsible and informed decisions among young couples.

The program has received positive responses from local community leaders and residents, who see it as a meaningful effort to strengthen family values and social welfare. They hope the initiative will continue regularly across the region.

Rizal Zakaria concluded the session by urging all couples planning to marry to join the BINWIN program. “Getting married is a commitment. We want our future families to thrive — to be strong, loving, and rooted in mutual understanding,” he said.
